Wolfenstein Is Getting a TTRPG — and It’s Coming to Gamefound
Modiphius has confirmed it’s developing a Wolfenstein tabletop RPG, with crowdfunding planned for Gamefound in Q3 2026. The game will use Modiphius’s 2d20 system — the same engine behind Star Trek Adventures, Dune, and Fallout: The Roleplaying Game — and will focus on the New Colossus / New Order era of the franchise.
This is one of the more interesting licensed IP moves we’ve seen from a major TTRPG publisher in a while. Wolfenstein’s themes of resistance, covert operations, and moral weight under occupation suit a campaign game well, and Modiphius has the track record to make a setting book worth owning. No price has been announced yet, but fans of narrative-first, resistance-focused campaigns should put this on their radar now. Watch Modiphius’s blog for campaign updates closer to launch.
Why This Matters
Modiphius has consistently proven that licensed RPGs can stand on their own as games rather than just collector’s items. If the Wolfenstein TTRPG follows the same approach as their Dune and Star Trek releases — deep setting integration, mechanics that reflect the fiction’s themes — this could be one of the standout tabletop releases of 2026. The GAMA Expo timing for this announcement wasn’t accidental; it signals serious industry momentum.
New This Week
Tabletop Releases
Fantasy Grounds — Shadowdark: Sapphire Seas | Smoldering Wizard / Arcane Library A nautical dungeon-crawl supplement for Shadowdark, now available via Fantasy Grounds. One sentence pitch: sea-going hex crawls for the grimly efficient OSR crowd. Available on Fantasy Grounds.
Fantasy Grounds — March 10 5E Adventures Batch | Various Publishers Several new 5E adventures landed on Fantasy Grounds on March 10, continuing steady VTT support for new tabletop content. If you’re running a virtual table, the Fantasy Grounds release log is worth checking weekly for system-specific additions.
Digital Releases
Legends of Amberland III: The Crimson Tower | Windows | ~$14.99 (check Steam for current pricing) The third entry in this old-school party CRPG series launched March 2. It keeps the formula of its predecessors: first-person dungeon exploration, turn-based party combat, and classic grid movement. If you’ve been working through the best CRPGs to play this winter or want something with strong skill-tree build flexibility, Amberland III scratches the same itch as the games covered in our CRPG skill trees and build flexibility guide.
Actual Play Corner
Critical Role: Campaign 4 Continues
Campaign 4 had two episodes recapped this week. Episode 18, “Vindicta and Vale,” was recapped on March 18, with Episode 19, “Hand & Wheel,” following on March 24. C4 is keeping a steady weekly release cadence, which means we’re building toward a real body of campaign material to dig into.
If you haven’t started following Campaign 4 yet, the Critical Role website has full recaps that give you the plot beats without the multi-hour time commitment. For those who are watching along and want to cross-reference the mechanics — the group is running Daggerheart, and our Daggerheart review and character creation guide are useful companions.

Kickstarter Micro May 2026 — Open Call
Kickstarter announced an open call for its Micro May 2026 initiative this week, specifically targeting small-format tabletop projects. The brief for creators is small games, big ideas — and if the previous Micro May events are any indication, we should see a wave of compact, focused RPG releases land on Kickstarter later this year.
This is worth flagging for two reasons: it’s a good time to follow small-press creators you like, because some of them will be gearing up for submissions. It’s also a reminder that the most interesting design work in tabletop right now often comes in under 50 pages.
Still to Watch: Mutants & Masterminds 4E
The M&M4E crowdfund remains one of the most anticipated superhero RPG projects in the current pipeline. Projected backer delivery sits at September 2026, with retail following in November 2026. If superhero RPGs are your corner of the hobby, it’s worth keeping an eye on updates.
Community Spotlight
GM Tools and OSR Sandboxes Still Dominating
The clearest community signal this week — consistent with what we’ve seen in recent roundups — is that players are gravitating hard toward GM tools, megadungeon content, and large-format sandbox releases. Products like ICRPG Power Tools: Game Mastery Book and Halls of Arden Vul: The Thicket have been generating the most genuine community discussion, rather than core rulebooks.
If you’re a GM looking to level up your prep work, we’ve covered this territory in our guides to session prep in 30 minutes and props and handouts — both of which draw on exactly the kind of GM toolkit thinking the community is responding to right now.
GM Toolkit: Faction Reputation Tracks
This week’s tip comes straight from the overlap between what’s trending in digital RPGs and what the tabletop community keeps asking for: use a faction reputation track to make player choices matter over time.
The idea is simple. Create a small numerical track (say, -3 to +3) for each significant group in your campaign — a guild, a criminal organisation, a city guard, a cult. When players do something that affects that faction, shift the track. A positive score means better prices, information, backup in fights. A negative score means closed doors, higher prices, or active opposition.
What makes this work is that it removes the need for you to remember every interaction and improvise consequences on the fly. The track holds the history. Players start to understand that the world is reacting to them specifically, not just generating random encounters. It creates the sense of a living setting without adding significant rules overhead.
For implementation, you don’t need a formal sub-system. A simple notecard per faction, kept behind your GM screen, does the job. You can adapt this across any system — it works just as well in Daggerheart as it does in D&D 5e or Blades in the Dark, where a version of this idea is baked into the rules as the Tier and Heat mechanics. If you want to go deeper on NPC and faction-building, our NPC creation guide covers the character side of the same problem.
Coming Next Week
The Wolfenstein TTRPG announcement will likely generate more community discussion as the week progresses — worth watching the Modiphius blog and social channels for any additional details. Critical Role C4 Episode 20 should land in the coming days, keeping the campaign’s weekly cadence. We’ll also be keeping an eye on whether Kickstarter’s Micro May open call starts producing announcement noise from indie creators.
What’s Your Take?
The Wolfenstein TTRPG announcement is the clear conversation-starter this week. Modiphius has a strong track record with licensed games — but Wolfenstein is a very different IP from Dune or Star Trek. Are you excited about bringing that resistance-fighter setting to the table, or are you skeptical about licensed video game IPs making the jump to tabletop?
Drop your thoughts in the comments — and if there’s a licensed IP you’d love to see get the TTRPG treatment, let us know that too.
